With the shipping industry in recession continuely, in order to enhance the international competitiveness of China’s shipping industry and popularize the shipping information management, the shipping maintenance management system is more and more practical value. This paper takes the design of the shipping maintenance management system as the fundamental point, which tries to explore a suitable shipping information management platform. Firstly, the paper introduces the current developing situation of domestic and international shipping management system, and analyzes the function demands of shipping enterprises, meanwhile, presents the modules of the system based on C WBT. Secondly, the paper puts forward the normal forms for database design taking the relational database as foundation, and also details the operations of ADO.NET, and accomplishes the database design for the system using SQL Server2008. Thirdly, the paper introduces some related contents about Visual Studio2010IDE, and the operations of commonly used controls. It also emphasizes the key technologies developing the sofeware and the data stream of the system in C/S mode. Finally, the paper accomplishes the detailed developing progress of the system, in which it applies three-layer architecture, UI layer, BLL layer, DAL layer, realizing the modular design and unifing the design cycle of the system. Based on this, the paper introduces the UI design, functions and operating steps of the system taking the Certificate Management module, Maintenance Management module and Work Order Management module as an example.
