With the increase of expressway maintenance tasks，a variety of problems are graduallyexposed in the traditional expressway maintenance management model.The establishment ofexpressway market-oriented maintenance management model can solve the problems oftraditional model and improve the level of maintenance management，keeping the good serviceperformance of expressway. This paper，by the analysis of current research and practice ofexpressway maintenance management at home and abroad， utilized modern management theoryto complete the establishment and implementation of expressway market-oriented maintenancemanagement model.The paper put forward problems of domestic expressway maintenance management modeland develop trend，by the means of comparative analysis on existing domestic and overseasexpressway maintenance management model condition. Through the expound and apply ofconnotation，function，basic principle and organizational design of modern management theory，expressway market-oriented maintenance management organization system was established，which can provide scientific and efficient management system and operation model forexpressway maintenance management. According to construction goal and conduction thesis, withthe connection of operating mechanism in modern management，proposed several implementationstrategy of expressway market-oriented maintenance management，including the establishment ofspecialized maintenance services company, the implementation of the bidding system andmanagement operation according to contract. Some methods were put forward to improve theefficiency of expressway maintenance management. Through the establishment of specializedmaintenance inspections department and standardized inspection system，the scientific and unitiveinspection system was formed to improve the quality of inspections of maintenance work. Usingcomputer technology to make the organic integration of informational management approach inthe modern management and expressway maintenance management，the expressway maintenancemanagement integrated system was formed which can realize the informatization of whole processof expressway maintenance， greatly improving the maintenance work efficiency and quality.On the basis of the expressway maintenance management integrated system, the cost model ofexpressway routine maintenance was established and explored minor repairs maintenance costfixed quota，which can provide the basis for cost measurement and control of the expresswaymaintenance. In the end，the paper gave a brief introduction of general project contract model inthe expressway maintenance.
