The canal renaissance, bears the Chinese nation’s expectations of the long-term development.Theharmonious coexistence of people, city and the canal, is a common wish by all the world’s residentsby the water. The Grand Canal of China, as a remarkable cultural line, as city’s memory and citizens’emotional container, drives the mission of development and revitalization of the surroundingarea. This study did up on the waterfront landscape Post-occupancy evaluation theory, made definitionand composition analysis of the canal landscape, briefly described the general situation of ZhejiangCanal.Reviewed and filtered several main research methods of POE, selected analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) to build a canal landscape POE model accordingto the nature and characteristics of the canal, model consist of four criterion layer and25subordinateindexes.Taking Hangzhou section (Shixiang Road–Sanbao Lock) and Ningbo section (Three riversestuary) as main evaluation object, field studied110km canal line, establish the combination ofqualitative and quantitative evaluation standard system, recycled22experts consultation data throughthe Delphi method, calculated each index weight with Yaahp software.Field recycled userquestionnaire data (n=202), did mathematical statistics and analysis in SPSS20.0statistical software.Main conclusions are as follows:(a)four criterion layer weight:environmental quality: artificialmaterial:socialmanagement:heritageprotection=0.3198:0.1778:0.1607:0.3418, the top five weight ofspecific indexes are: authenticity, water quality, integrity, belongingness and air quality, heritageprotection becomes a field people pay close attention to;(b)by modeling and FCE grading, the canallandscape overall quality of Hangzhou section and Ningbo section are both ordanary;(c)cross analysisshows that the user’s age, level of education, living area and vocation have significant differences inindexes of canal’s POE.(d)landscape quality improving suggestion: improves the transportationsystem, completes the transition and transferring of the canal zone and the horizontal transportation;increases young users access frequency and duration through the development of the formats;elevates the old user’s satisfaction by elderly-oriented transform.
