With the development of society, the shortage of energy and the globalclimate changing, and the security problem of power grid operation has becomeincreasingly prominent. At this time, the smart grid is developed very fast allaround the world, and is occupied the core position of the national power griddevelopment. Smart substation is an important node of the smart grid, therealization of technology on smart substation plays a key role in China’s smartgrid construction. However, as the key node of smart power grid construction,smart substation technology does not have a ready-made standard at home and abroad.Although the study on the smart substation technology system in our country andthe formally promulgation of IEC61850standards, have paved the way for theconstruction of smart substation in the substation architecture systemand communication standards. But in the stable operation of high voltage equipment,we also need to make breakthrough at home and abroad. Smart protection in smartsubstation, which based on the traditional theory of relay protectio7n, use the"high voltage equipment and intelligent components" to realize intelligent of highpressure equipment and all digitization of substation. It introduced the conceptof the merging unit, intelligent unit and network technology. It uses theintelligent software and digital protect logic to replace the conventionaltraditional relay protection, and the station control network and the processnetwork to replace the cable coil connected。This greatly improves the protectionaction performance and equipment reliability. The project has great significanceto the smart grid construction and safe stable operation.This paper takes a220kV substation engineering as background, uses theprotection configuration main line of smart substation to deeply study theconfiguration of220kV line protection in smart substation technology。It improvedthe original electrical quantities judgment, and made some simulation, it also verifies the improved intelligent protection by an electricity way. As apilot project in Heilongjiang province, this project has very important practicaland guiding significance for smart substation construction in China. It can bewidely applied to220kV and below voltage level of all kinds of intelligentprotection, and can effectively improve various types of digital protectionperformance. It has important reference significance to the intelligent substationconstruction of similar structure system. It will promote the smart substationtechnology development and open up a new research direction for smart substationconstruction.
