Performance based seismic design method, is the development direction ofresearch of seismic design, but also domestic and foreign experts in recent yearswidely discussed topic, this method in order to improve the seismic performance ofbuilding structures as the target, Direct displacement based seismic design method isthe performance based seismic design method of a kind of. Direct displacement basedseismic design method for the performance level is more straightforward, the methodis easy to operate, has caused the majority of scholars interested in, and launched theresearch in many aspects.This paper expounds the development course of research on seismic designtheory, introduces the seismic design method of the continuous optimization of thevarious stages of progress: static theory stage, the response spectrum theory stage,stage of dynamic theory, structure displacement based seismic design method for theanalysis and description, and, examples of the application of reinforced concrete theframe structure of the practical analysis on the theory of process, and the applicationof static elastic-plastic analysis for checking, the final results of the displacementmode under the different comparative analysis.Through the examples can be seen, reflect the performance level of buildingstructure under earthquake, the displacement is more intuitive than strength, therefore,in the structural seismic design by displacement for structure control parameters inconcept more clear. Using the inter story displacement angle on the structure andproperties of quantitative comparison is reasonable, directly based on the structuredesign method of displacement of the design can be more effective in thedisplacement control structure. But different lateral impact models on calculationresults is relatively large, therefore, the need for further research on the displacementmode of the structure under earthquake action side.
