In recent years, along with the progress of modern society and the rapid development ofeconomy, various transportation demands increase obviously, and the following urbantransportation issues gradually reveal. Traffic jams and congestions become very concernedissues of daily traveling. From the sustainable development point, it is a very feasible methodto enhance the effective utilization rate of current transportation resources by promoting themodernization level of the urban transportation network, and so the transportation guidancesystem comes into being as an important technical method to solve the urban transportationissues. In order to enhance the transportation guidance efficiency on the road network andbalance the distribution of road network transportation resources, this paper has introducedthe basic thought and the research method of Game Theory to the research on transportationguidance system.Aiming at the oscillatory occurrences in transportation guidance environment, theconflicts of interests between travelers who compete for the same road resources have beenstudied, and the NASH equilibrium based guidance method is proposed according to the gamebehavior between an individual traveler and the community. The Stochastic User Equilibriumis applied to solve the NASH equilibrium according to the WARDROP first principle, and theminimization of travelers’ trip expenses is achieved. In order to further improve the transportation performance of the road network, the gamebehaviors between road network manager and the traveler community is thoroughlyresearched on urban transportation conditions. The transportation guidance model based onthe STACKELBERG game between road network manager and the traveler community isproposed, and the modified LOGIT model is employed to solve the game equilibriumbetween two transportation guidance principles, the System Optimal and the User Equilibrium. With the proposed model, the win-win situation between road network manager and thetraveler community is realized, and the transportation guidance efficiency is improved greatly. In the end, the cooperation and conflicts of all transportation participants on the roadnetwork is systematically analyzed and studied. The accuracy and validity of the proposedmodels are tested and verified on the simulation platform of microscopic transportationsimulation software VISSIM combining VC6.0/MFC. The experimental results show that, theproposed game models are able to improve the driving speed, realize the equilibrium of trafficflow and optimize the overall performance on the road network in more actual transportationconditions.
