BIM technology has been widely known among the construction industries in ourcountry at present stage. Project participants include some of the domestic architecturaldesign company, real estate, construction companies and prefabricated factories. Theseenterprises have established BIM technology research and development team. Someenterprises began to try BIM technology application in the construction of affordablehousing in the industrial production mode, but it is still have some problems.In this paper, through the literature survey, it states the development of industrialproduction and the status of BIM technology from both foreign and domestic front,through the BIM technology overview, and leads to the application and developmentprospects of BIM technology at this stage. Through comparative analysis, it summarizessome software, compares and analysis the differences. Through field research method, itsummarizes the status of BIM technology’s application in the domestic industrialproduction of affordable housing, as well as the specific practices of the constructionindustry’s leading companies. By Analyzing different projects listed of BIM application,and it analyzes the different levels of BIM technology applications. Through empiricalanalysis, the BIM technology in the industrial production of affordable housing projectsin the application, and the difference between analysis and general construction ofaffordable housing, it summed up the advantages of BIM technology in the industrialproduction of affordable housing in the application. Through expert interviews method,it analyses and raises the question of BIM technology, and proposes somecountermeasures.It can be concluded that the application of BIM technology in affordable housingcan significantly speed up the construction pace to achieve modernization projectsinclude precast factory, construction site assembly, production and project managementinformation management integration. By collision detection,5D simulation and otherapplications, BIM can reduce construction costs. However, the widely application ofBIM still exist many problems, through the efforts of all the industry, the application ofBIM technology will overcome the obstacle one by one, BIM technology will improveproduction efficiency, and drive the development of the society. With the guidance ofthe theory, the traction of the demand, and policy driven, all these action together, thecombination of BIM technology and industrialization production mode will rise atechnology revolution in construction industry once again, and it will become aninexorable trend in the construction industry.
