With the rapid development of domestic economy, people’s life-level improved day after day and the living and cultural exchange between adjacent cities have become more closely. So constructing the intercity railways which occupy less land, consume lower energy, have huge capacity and have high efficiency are more and more urgent to meet economic development and people’s living standard. At the same time, more and more passengers are no longer satisfying the low-level travel mode and have higher demandingness of transportation service quality and driving environment. So the research on transport organization optimization of inter-city railway is more and more important. The stop schedule plan not only directly reflects the passenger transport service quality and business strategy, but also determines the transportation organization level. On the one hand, a good stop schedule plan could raise the level of passenger transport service. On the other hand, it also can enhance the economic benefits of transport enterprises.This study takes the stop schedule plan of intercity railway as the study object. Based on fully analyzed the essential characteristic of the stop schedule plan of the intercity railways which have opened in our country, this paper sets a multi-objective programming model and its algorithm based on varieties of different speed intercity trains, then give a case study on Guangzhou-Zhuhai intercity railway. The main work of this paper includes the following four aspects:(1) Analyzed the essential characteristic of the stop schedule plan of the intercity railways which have opened in our country. The setting principle and influencing factor was also introduced in this sector. Finally the passenger flow characteristics and service levels of Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway, Guangzhou-Zhuhai intercity railway, Shanghai-Hangzhou intercity railway and Shanghai-Nanjing intercity railway were researched proceed from the style of stop schedule plan, the station service frequency, the station node classification and the service frequency among different nodes hierarchies.(2) The intercity railway nodes were classified by different levels, Analyzed the stop types of intercity railway, the combinations by different types and the outcome of each combinations. Then the relationship between the pit stops and traveling speeds was also analyzed. Finally the evaluation method of intercity railway stop schedule plan was established based on different services index.(3) The optimal strategy and basic process of the stop schedule plan was analyzed systematically. Based on maximizing operational benefits, minimizing the passengers waiting time and idling stopping distance, the multi-objective programming model to optimize the stop schedule plan of intercity railway was established.(4) Case study of the stop schedule plan in Guangzhou-Zhuhai intercity railway was given by the optimization model and obtained the stop schedule plan with different types of passenger demand. The result showed that most of the indexes were better than the existing plan. For example, the pairs of trains in principal line and branch line were respectively reduced by22.5%and38.7%. The average service frequency by different nodes hierarchies was reduced by30.53%. The average OD service frequency among different nodes hierarchies was increased by21%. The stop types were also increased slightly and the total of stops were reduced by27.96%.
