High power ac drive diesel locomotive is an important transportation carrier of long-distance railway goods transportation in China, which plays a crucial role in the development of transportation. HXN3is a type of introducd diesel locomotive applying ac drive technology. These years the application technology has been grasped in China. In this paper HXN3type diesel locomotive traction control system is taken as the research object, aiming at "digestion, absorption and innovation". Locomotive central control components CCU and hardware design and application software development are research emphases.PowerPC is selected as core processor of the control component in hardware system, where PowerPC is responsible for system-level task processing and event management. According to the function module, hardware system design in this paper mainly includes CPU, power supply, power protection monitoring, mass storage, clock reset control, RTC, temperature detecting unit, communication interface module and so on. Data exchange in CCU board is realized through CPCI bus, and the amount of data transmission, whose communication speed is fast, is large.In order to satisfy the real-time requirements of locomotive control tasks, and for the convenience of application software development and maintenance, the real-time operating system VxWorks developing application software is applied in this paper. Data storage and management introduce the file system operation, and data record records and exports in the file format. Through the use of standard function interface, the differences among different storage devices are shielded, which is convenient for subsequent data analysis. High-cohesion and low-coupling task module is applied to application software, with clear software structure, concise task, high real-time and high reliability.In this paper, matching PC monitoring software Board Spy V1.0is developed based on100M/1000M Ethernet communication interface, and debuggers can observe in real time, modify, and record variables and parameters in internal system through Ethernet. Software debugging fuction is powerful, and in flexible use.A series of testing and validation for designed control component are done in diesel locomotive microcomputer control system testing platform. The test results show that the control system components can meet the practical control requirements of localization HXN3type diesel locomotive, with reliable operation, and stable performance.
