Chinese high speed railway has begun to take shape, the matching relation between transportation demand and EMU resources supply is constantly changing, the transportation organization also gradually from line operation to network operation. This paper does research on coordinated optimization of EMU circulation and train framework schedule for high speed railway, in order to make train line plan effectively and improve efficiency of EMU utilization. The main contents include:(1) Problem analysis of coordinated optimization of EMU circulation and train framework schedule for high speed railway. The content of coordinated optimization is specified and influence factors are analyzed in detail, including train operation plan, technical parameters of train framework schedule, EMU resources, EMU management and operation, EMU maintenance regulations and yard condition, etc. Under different EMU resources supply and transportation demand, problem features and adaptive optimization method are summarized. This paper proposes the solution framework of coordinated optimization of EMU circulation and train framework schedule which adapts to current Chinese high speed railway, even for a long period of time.(2) Establishing coordinated optimization model of EMU circulation and train framework schedule. Multi-objective decision-making coordination optimization model is established. Optimization objective synthetically takes both passenger service quality and EMU utilization efficiency into account. The constraints include relative technical conditions for making EMU circulation and train framework schedule. Hierarchical solving strategy is proposed according to actual features of high speed railway and model characteristics, including three phases:construction of circulation alternative set, optimized solution of EMU circulation plan and drawing of train framework schedule.(3) Coordinated optimization arithmetic study based on hierarchical solving strategy. First, with input of operation plan with time windows, circulation alternative set is constructed by considering circulation feasibility and rationality constraints. Second, taking circulation alternative set as solution space, the optimal circulation scheme is solved by establishing0-1integer programming model. Third, evaluation index system is established to evaluate overall scheme. Feedback adjustment method is throughout the entire coordination optimization process to insure feasibility and the highest optimization degree of overall scheme. The algorithm realizes the way of invoking ILOG CPLEX optimization solver by C#, which means the coordinated optimization method proposed by this paper has operability and practical application value.(4) Case study on coordinated optimization of EMU circulation and train framework schedule for Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway and its associated network. Based on current actual background and timetable data of Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway, this paper sets up three comparative case studies and applies the proposed coordinated optimization method of EMU circulation and train framework schedule. With contrastive analysis of results, the feasibility and effectivity of this algorithm are proved.
