With the development of science and technology as well as informatization, Valve-RegulatedLead Acid Battery has been widely used as backup power supply to ensure the uninterruptedoperation of the system in many fields such as power system, communication system, railwaysystem, bank financial industry and national defense military and so on. However, there are somany accidents due to battery capacity decline and aging failure in reality, and the reason is the lackof testing and maintenance of battery. Artificial detection of battery needs a lot of time and effort,and it can not be executed online. So it is urgently needed for the remote online centralizedmanagement and monitoring of battery parameters and the health states.Starting from the basic principle of the battery, this thesis analyzes the parameters, workingconditions and failure mode of battery. One comprehensive method is proposed to realize the healthstate judgement of battery undering all conditions including charging, discharging and floating.During charging or discharging, the capacity of battery is precisely calculated via improvedampere-hour method, the impact of discharging size, charging efficiency and temperature iscorrected and can quantitatively determin the health state of battery. During floating, relationshipbetween remaining capacity and internal resistance is modeled online and dynamically, and batteryhealth state can be qualitatively determined by the acccurate measurement of interal resistance.This thesis mainly studies the battery on-site monitoring field and analyzes the method ofinternal resistance measurement and implementation, and the precision of battery internal resistancemeasurement is improved. Besides, hardware and software implementation of on-site monitoringfield which includes voltage detection module, current detection module and temperature detectionmodule is designed. According to the measurement data, battery health state can be judgedsynthetically with high accuracy. Also the measurement data can be displayed and transmitted.A prototype is produced and tested and the experiment results show that on-site monitoring fieldcan realize battery operation parameters online measuring with high precision including batteryvoltage, current, internal resistance and working temperature, and also it can transmit measurementdata to the region service center in real time. The on-site monitoring field works stably andcomplies with the design requirements as well as field application demands.
