Storage Battery is an important equipment of DC operating power system in Substation. It has a wide range of application including many areas, such as power supply, railway, telecommunications, oil and so on. Valve Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) battery play a very important role in the standby power industry. Since 1995, all sectors make a heated discussion about the topic of battery operation and monitoring. Battery operation and maintenance is an important issue of international power technology, so on-line monitoring of battery is one of a hot research spots.The batteries are held on float charge continuously to maintain capacity under normal operating circumstancesï¼›These cells are used to support uninterruptible power supply for the load, therefore the capacity of battery should meet the need of the discharge capacity in the time of power outages.With the increasing capacity of modern power systems and communications systems, people put forward higher requirements on the reliability of battery in these areas. For these stations of self-service watch and engine room of standby DC power, routine surveillance and monitoring for battery are essential. The configuration of Battery Monitoring Device which real-time monitors battery status is necessary for important substation.In the thesis, the domestic and international internal resistance measurement principle is analyzed and discussed. As we know, internal resistance measurement method which judges battery performance is currently recognized as the most effective approach in industry. Considering practical application of the on-line monitoring device, an ideal online measurement scheme is put forward.Our design of this module is small size, using small discharge current for battery,causing little damage, and low cost. It has the characteristics of connecting simple, safe, high reliability, long service life and high data refresh rate etc. In the way of design, a battery matching a node module is used in our design.The reason for this design is aimed to reduce total cost of battery maintenance, including the cost of installation and cable connection. Serial communication between the node module and PC, wired and wireless communication between the node module and the main module which simplified installation way on more step insure higher reliability of the module.
