A Study On Landscape Transformation Of Closed Municipal Solid Waste Landfills

Increasing economy and production levels make people live a better life, but also produce large amount of solid waste, which is buried under the ground. Now a lot of landfills have been shut down, however large number of abandoned landfills take up a lot of land resources, and damage the city’s environment. As "Junk Besieged City" is becoming more and more serious, how to re-use and reconstruct a closed landfills, and make it a land type of sustainable development is worthy of studying.Foreign research starts earlier than domestic research about reusing closed landfills, which is transformed into landscape. Ecological restoration and landscape theory is used in the construction of the landfills landscape transformation. In China, related research starts later, in addition to the lack of systematic theory, it is necessary to carry out the research in this area.In this paper, through literature research, case studies and field trips, building a theoretical framework of closed landfills’ landscape transformation, that includes three steps:the seal on landfills, determine the planning objectives, landscape design. This paper details the landfill closure steps and control of pollutants in the main content; analyzes the methods of determine the content of the landscape planning and staging transformation objectives from the overall plan; makes the principles of landfill landscape transformation clear, and discusses in detail about the landscape transformation technique. According to the characteristics of landfills, this paper described in detail in the design methods of structure terrain, traffic organizing, structure building, and plant configuration. It is consider to the landscape, interaction with visitors, and cultural connotation of view. In this way we are trying to provide a reference for the landscape transformation of the landfills.Finally, in Hangzhou Tianziling landfill landscape transformation, we apply theory to practice. On the basis of analyzing the current situation and the historical and cultural connotation to clarify its design philosophy, objectives and principles, etc. Together with the design team members we put forward the concrete landscape design methods to verify the theoretical framework, and also hope that we can provide a reference for the landscape transformation of landfills.
