Traffic situation was becoming worse because of the growing number of cars, which followed the increasing social economy and people’s living standards. As the main vehicle of the highway passenger transportation, the coach was going towards the direction of high speed and large-scale. In the meanwhile, traffic accidents caused by the coach occurred frequently, and casualties of occupants were more and more, especially heavy casualties of serious traffic accidents caused by coach collision and tumbling, so the study of coach crash safety was extremely urgent.Taking the Fully integral bus as the research object, this topic introduced the overlap40%front collision of the integral coach. Collision resistance of this coach was studied and improvement program was put forward.The legislations and research methods of the passive safety at home and abroad were introduced in this paper. Modal analysis theory and collision analysis theory about nonlinear finite element and Multi-rigid-body dynamics were stated. Brief introduction of Hyperworks and LS-DYNA were inclusive. Completing the FE model according to the right procedure, which consisted of Geometry Cleanup、Cell size to choose,Meshing, Quality inspection of grid, material properties to select and so on.The modal analysis was done,result showed that the model was able to used in the crash simulation analysis. Assembling the whole coach in the help of weld and contact, after location of the rigid wall and control of hourglass energy, the whole coach front collision simulation model was completed. Setting up the collision parameters, and exporting model in the form of K. Then model was imported into LS-DYNA, discussing the results, and analysis the living space of driver.The thin-walled straight beam of the coach body frame was improved on the base of the simulation results. Comprehensive researching the collision resistance of the thin-walled straight beam which located in the coach chassis from three aspects, including Material Thickness, slot location, slot shape, Simulating Calculation was carried out again after improvement, making a comparison between the two results, which showed that the invasion of cab front panel peak acceleration were lower, the occupant security was improved.
