The Application And Form Appearance Of U-Profile Glasses In Architecture Design

Recently, U-Profile glasses, in our nation, have been gradually used in some new architectures and reparations of them. However, as a kind of new developed architectural material, its application is still under experimentation now and most work is done by some faculty members in the department of architecture of the Southeast University and Tongji University. Since there are no any relative books systematically introducing this environmental friendly material in the country, for this consideration. This thesis, based on a lot of products information, technological data and construction examples, was written to give a compressive and detailed introduction about the history of U-profile glasses, its mechanical properties, application in engineering, aesthetic appearance and psychological appearance.This thesis has the structure of phenomena-example-theory, which divides the whole thesis into six chapters. In chapter one, we introduces the meaning of this research and the importance for investigating the performing application of U-profile glasses as well as the introduction of its application within and without the country. In chapter two, we focus on the analysis of material properties, including safety, physical properties and chemical properties. The analysis of safety is according to the architectural demand and the analysis of physical and chemical properties is from the view of materials science. Some representative examples are givenIn chapter three including the Are and Art-History Hall in The University of Iowa, the library of Xuzhou University, the Architecture Hall of Tongji University and so on. All of the examples are introduced form the aspects of design ideas, aesthetic performance and structural features. In the chapter four, we will combine the theory of modern architecture, from the view of designing methodology and psychology to analyze the character of U-profile glasses in architecture. The significance, potential of U-profile glasses and its architecture will be discussed in chapter five and chapler six is conclusion.
