Does architectural form need to be strong? I hold a negative attitude after that Ireference to vulnerability of architecture in natural disaster and man-made destruction,as well as a proudly cold form presenting in the game of power. Modern architectureis suffering from the influence of economic interests, political demand and otherfactors, so that it mostly bases on a strong visual impact to win the eye and ignore theattitude problem among architecture, environment and human being, which is ananti-humanistic phenomenon. Under the diversification of modern ArchitecturalTrends, a wave of creation began to attract people’s attention which attempts toweaken the architectural form. These buildings convey a weakening posture to bothnature and human being in materiality performance and spiritual expression. However,in the factors that affect the architectural form, the tectonic of architectural skincontributes most in architectural materialistic and the expression of spiritual content.This article try to explore on the strategy of weakening architectural form by tectonicof architectural skin.This article initially interprets two concepts:‘tectonic of architectural skin’ and‘weakening’, analysis the practice in tectonic of architectural skin and relationshipbetween tectonic of architectural skin and architectural form. Continuously, classifyweakening form based on the development, reason and theoretical basis in the trend ofweakening architectural form. Chapters4and5is the focus of this article, whichresearch on strategy of tectonic of architectural skin in weakening architecturalphysical form and sense of psychological highlight combined with specific cases,discussing material vocabulary, construction and form constitution in strategy oftectonic of architectural skin to weaken architectural form, as well as socialhumanities, science technology and other factors.This article proposed practical strategies of weakening the architectural form viaresearch on tectonic of architectural skin and trend of weakening architectural form.Hope to bring the reflection of the strong image of modern architecture, and an idea ofweakening of the architectural form by tectonic of architectural skin, bringing somereference for the design practice.
