Cable path layout’s design is a very important work to electrical production design. But at present, this work is mainly depends on worker’s rich experience to complete, and it not only inefficient and time-consuming but also needs much labor force. This problem seriously affects the efficiency of ship electrical design. So it is necessary to find a new method to solve this problem above and it will save a lot of time and cost, also accelerate the process of Marine electrical production design greatly.This article is based on the above problems and puts forward a new solution. In this paper, on the basis of genetic algorithm, by combine the improvement of the drawbacks of genetic algorithm and the problems existed in the cable lying of practical engineering, and develop a new method for optimal placement of the cable.This new method includes code’s design of cable route layout, the initialization of cable paths population, the design of objective function and fitness function, also the improvement of and genetic operators. New method is effective for the cable’s optimization arrangement proved by the experiment of simulation, and can get ideal results by means of solving some defects of the genetic algorithm.At last, according to the new method above, developed a simple and practical cable layout software. By the use of this software, lots of labor force can be saved, and the generated result can meets the needs of the project actually.
