With the rapid development of economy, the consumption of resources is more and more serious. Hence, the remanufacturing industry, mainly providing high-tech repair for broken parts, emerges as it is urgent to build a conservation oriented society. With a high additional value of application, the compressor impeller is widely used in industrial applications. And the remanufacturing of the compressor impeller can save resources and cost. The key step of the remanufacturing of the compressor impeller is prediction of remaining life that is affected by the residual strength of the compressor impeller. Hence, in order to remanufacture the compressor impeller, analyzing its residual strength is of great significance. This paper analyzes failure mechanism and failure form of the compressor impeller, and also analyzes the factors affecting the strength degradation. Remaining life of the compressor impeller with crack is predicted by using the Pairs formula of fracture mechanics. the relationship between life and strength is obtained by analyzing the stress intensity factor AK and fracture toughness Kc. A model for predicting the residual strength of the compressor impeller on materials FV520B is established through theoretical analysis and high cycle fatigue tests, and then to compare the results with experimental data. Meanwhile it is to convert intensity data of the compressor impeller by using gray correlation method to obtain the residual strength of the compressor impeller. As experimental data verifies, residual strength prediction model on FV520B provides a better forecast on the residual strength of the compressor impeller with crack inclusions. Meanwhile, intensity data conversion model is simple and can be used to cursorily analyze intensity data without the need for a large number of experimental data.
