Resistance prediction is very important to study for ship rapidity. The main research methods are the theory method, experimental method and numerical simulation. In order to accurately forecast the ship resistance, this paper adopts the experimental method and numerical simulation, As is known to all, ship model test has been the main approaches to the study of the ship rapidity, with the rapid development of computer technology, CFD method on basis of Computational fluid dynamics has gradually become an important method. Compared with the traditional method, the CFD method is flexible and economical.On Wigley ships in this paper, get the result of resistance in different speed through the analysis of the test method, and then commercial software "Fluent"’was applied to the numerical simulation to study hydrodynamic performance of ship.First of all, do the ship model test. In towing tank of Dalian university of technology do ship model experiment, the ship total resistance is obtained under different speed, and through1957ITTC formula to calculate the frictional resistance under the corresponding Froude number, and then according to1978ITTC method to calculate the corresponding wave drag and form factor.Secondly, based on the method of CFD, stack mold flow field of Wigley ship is simulated, it could obtain the viscous resistance under different Froude number, then compared with the calculation results of theoretical method, which can confirm the reliability of the CFD method. At the same time, it also analysis the effect of different turbulence model on the calculation accuracy.Again, based on CFD method, the ideal flow field of Wigley ship with the free surface is simulated, and the VOF method is adopted to capture the flow of the free surface in detail. It can gain the wave-making resistance of different Froude number. And the indirect method of CFD calculation is put forward, namely the wave-making resistance under the condition of ideal fluid and viscous resistance of stack mold merged into total resistance of the ship.Finally, based on CFD method, viscous flow field of the free surface Wigley ship is simulated, where can obtain frictional resistance and pressure resistance. Then compared to indirect method of CFD with different number of Froude, it comfirms the reliability of the indirect method.
