The labyrinth weir is a kind of discharge structure without gates controlling. In order to obtain a longer overflow length, the weir is always designed into polyline. The labyrinth weir has the characteristics of simple structure, larger discharge flow, and convenient operation and so on. It is mainly applied in the small and medium-sized reservoir spillway. And also it has the prominent superiority of increasing the discharge flow in the new and existed spillway.In this paper, the flow regime, discharge capacity, and the hydraulic design of the labyrinth weir was studied based on the example of the spillway of the Anzi River Reservoir. It was confirmed that the discharge capacity of the labyrinth weir is large than the broad crest weir and the practical weir under the same condition through the calculation and the model test results.The first chapter is the preface section. The research background and the significance of the topic was put forward based on the instructive macro policy of the water conservancy in our country.The second chapter is the research on the hydraulic characteristics of the labyrinth weir. According to the references of the researchers at home and abroad on the flow characteristics of the labyrinth weir, the parameters of the hydraulic characteristics and the factors which influenced the flow characteristics of the labyrinth weir were given. This could be referenced by other similar engineering.The third chapter is the application research section on the labyrinth weir in the spillway of the Anzi River Reservoir. After the comprehensive considerations of its function, the management, the influence of the environment and the economic evaluation and the omnidirectional comparison, the shape of the labyrinth weir was chosen. The design scheme was also optimized. In this chapter the layout of the labyrinth weir in the spill way was detailedly introduced. The discharge capacity of the labyrinth weir was deducted. Furthermore, the stability of the spill way and the engagement between the upstream and the downstream was detailedly designed. At last, it was concluded that the design scheme of the labyrinth weir in this spillway of the Anzi River Reservoir is appropriate from the aspects of the stability, the environment and the economics.The fourth chapter is the model test section. In this chapter, the facility of the model test, the parameters chosen and the method in the test were introduced. The tests under different design schemes and different discharge flow rates, flow characteristics and the energy dissipation were carried out. Through the comparison between the calculation and the model test results, the availability of the design and the test results were analyzed. Based on it, the optimal design scheme was ascertained.The fifth chapter is the section of the conclusions and expectation.
