With the energy shortage and environmental pollution being worse, the automotive industry must develop in the direction of energy-saving and environmental protection. In the case of the poor ability to meet long-distance travel of electric vehicle (EV), the range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) extended the driving range and met the require-ments of energy saving and environmental protection by adding the auxiliary power unit (APU). But the control system became complicated, the communication performance of its distributed control network played an important role in REEV’s performance. Therefore, the vehicle network became an integral part of the researches on REEV.This thesis was composed in the background of the project named’Research and industrialization of rotor range-extended/compatible EV for battery charge or change’. CAN bus communication principle and scheduling policies were deeply analyzed. The communication network model of REEV was established based on TrueTime box, and the network of power-train was simulated with different scheduling policies. The communication simulation of power-train network was fulfilled with mixed scheduling method, and the dual-core performance of S12X MCU was used. An experiment in the hybrid power bench was completed to test the performance of dual-core APU controller, and analyze the controller’s impact on the CAN communication and system response.The simulation of software model showed:the communication network established could operate normally; the mixed traffic scheduling method got the advantages of static and dynamic scheduling methods to enhance the real-time ability and integrity of the communication. The simulation of S12X platform showed that the mixed traffic scheduling method with dual-core controller could improve the quality of CAN-bus communication; The bench test showed that the dual-core controller could improve the real-time ability of the entire communication network, as well as the accuracy and reliability of the whole control system.
