As the city transport network, urban road intersection is an important part of urban trafficbottleneck location,and most of the travel delays caused by it’s congested. How to alleviatetraffic congestion effectively and improve the utilization efficiency of urban road has becomea problem we need to solve urgently. The traditional traffic control methods have been unableto meet the development requirements in nowadays, because of the randomness andcomplexity of transportation system. Therefore, intelligent control method has become one ofthe main means of traffic signal control.Taking signal interseetions as the subjectinvestigated,the paper adopts teehnologies of fuzzy control in research of signal control andsimulates intersection traffic flow by established signal intersection microscopic simulationsystem.Firstly, this paper introduces the basic theory of traffic signal control and fuzzy logiccontrol. And then using the multilevel fuzzy signal control scheme by taking the decrease ofvehieles’ average delay at interseetions as the target. Through the simulation of the algorithmwith MATLAB software, the results shows that the algorithm has good control effect. Inaddition, the basic model of signal intersection simulation system is established throughresearch of intersection environment and the vehicle’s movement characteristics in theintersection. Whatafter a dynamic simulation system of signal intersection is build based onobject-oriented development and Visual C++6.0development platform. Represents theintersection traffic flow state, and validates the simulation model’s real feasibility through theinvestigation data. Input the simulation parameters for the simulation research of the signalintersection,it is intuitive to comprehend that the method of fuzzy brought forward in thepaper can make the traffic signal adjust accordingly in company with the change of traffieconditions,which relieves the traffic congestion. The simulation results show that multistagefuzzy control strategy is better than traditional fixed-time control and ordinary fuzzy controlin control effect. Finally, the simulation system also gives the main performance index of theintersection signal control in the simulation condition, and provides an efficient way toevaluate the effect of intersection signal control.
