It is easy to cause the environmental pollution and the high cost by using wet machining inorder to meet high environmental requirement. While dry cutting method is more likely todamage the tool, which will indirectly reduce the machining efficiency. So it is necessary thatmachine tools are equipped with cooling and lubrication equipment, among which theMQL(Minimum Quantity Lubrication) technology is preferred.This paper makes a summary of researches on MQL cooling lubrication technology. Itdetermines the optimum oil of MQL spray system by capillary model and put forward theperformance indexes of the spray system. Meanwhile, choosing atomizing nozzle according tothe working pressure and required flow in order to set up the MQL system completely.Taking the main cutting force and motor power as the research object and selecting thebest cutting machining parameters of the milling gears by multivariate orthogonal experiments.The machining parameters are applied to conducting experiments on lubrication effect of theMQL lubrication and cooling system. Finding the oil quantity, when the cutting force is theleast,by adjusting the oil quantity and observing the relationship between oil quantity andcutting force through a experimental way. Moreover, a comparative experiment among drycutting, air cooling and MQL is conducted. Data based on the main cutting force and motorpower is analyzed and the superiority of MQL lubricating effect is verified. Then verifying theinfluence of MQL on tool life by comparing dry cutting and MQL lubricating. Besides,according to the contrast experiment on cutting temperature of lubricate to verify the coolingeffect of MQL technology.This paper gives the best machining parameters and the optimum amount of lubricant,which will be in favor of people in selecting machining parameters and oil quantity,and alsoprovides a new research direction. Simultaneously, it solves several problems encountered inthe dry cutting process of GCMT large spiral bevel gear. It shows that we can select appropriatelubrication conditions according to different machining parameters in future gear machiningprocess. It will be of considerable value of practical application.
