Double curved arch bridge emerged in the1960s, in which China was just established and it didn’t have enough money to build bridge for traffic because of the slow economic growth. Double curved arch bridge has lots of merits, such as economical material consumption, inexpensive erection cost, express building speed, convenient engineering process, and it’s easy to construct with no supporting frame or less supporting frame. Therefore, such bridge type has been widely generalized since it came into being. Our country has built a lot of double curved arch bridges over the subsequent20years. However, such bridge type has been increasingly eliminated for poor durability and integrality. Most of double curved arch bridges have been used for30years or so, but they urgently need maintenance, reconstruction and reinforcement, for there are varying degrees of diseases.Taking double curved arch bridge as the research object, this thesis first introduces its appearance and development history. Then its characteristic is analyzed from the aspects of force and structure. After summarizing the common diseases and their causes as well as the reinforcement technics, the thesis mainly studies the strengthening technics with bonding steel plate, involving its strengthening principle, reinforcing materials, key construction technics, construction requirements and safety requirements in the reinforcement process.
