This paper researched on the reinforcement of the existing double curved arch bridge and the transformation of mountain roads for large shipment by taking the transport project of a wind power station in the province of Hunan as the engineering background. The main work was as follows:(1)The actual technical data of the double curved arch bridge were obtained through the field investigation and the instrument detection in the reinforcement study of the existing double curved arch bridge; It was concluded that the arch bridge can not meet the transportation conditions of large load through the evaluation of the overall technical status of the bridge, structural checking and static load test; Then it put forward a reasonable reinforcement program, which was adding the reinforced concrete slab in the lower part of the arch rib of the main arch circle. It analyzed the internal forces and verified the feasibility of the reinforcement scheme.through established the pre-reinforcement and post-consolidation models by the Midas/Civil.(2)It analyzed the differences between the limited conditions of large-scale transportation on the road, the large-sized loads and the ordinary vehicle loads accorded to the characteristics of large-scale transport in the mountain road reconstruction research; It cleared the restricted conditions in the road through road exploration, formulated road transportation plans and put forward reasonable basic requirements for roads through combined with engineering examples; It formulated road reconstruction plans based on the results of road surveys, and conducted stable checking on retaining walls. The results of the research showed that it was feasible to add the reinforcement scheme of reinforced concrete slabs in the lower part of arch ribs of double-curved arch bridges;the retaining wall in the reconstruction scheme of mountainous roads can meet the stability requirements.
