Air cushion belt conveyor, which is a new type of belt conveyor, applies air support to replace the roller support compared with traditional roller conveyor. The rolling friction between the belt and the roller is replaced by the fluid friction between the belt and the air cushion layer. So it has the unique advantages of energy saving, environmental protection, high efficiency, low cost and so on. At present, the design theory and method of the air cushion belt conveyor are still not perfect. The industrial application and popularization of the air cushion belt conveyor is greatly restricted. In order to ensure that the air cushion belt conveyor can get better popularization and application as soon as possible, the problems in the industrialization process of the air cushion belt conveyor are studied and solved, mainly includes the following aspects.First of all, by using the method which makes suppose in the first and does verification in the second, the deformation principle that the belt of transition section is circular, and the mathematical expressions of the curved surface of transition belt was obtained. According to the analysis of the geometric deformation of the transition belt, the optimal length calculation formula of transition has been found. Based on the following theories, a kind of transition device of the air cushion belt conveyor, which can guide conveyor belt smooth transition, was designed. The service life of conveyor belt and the efficiency of air cushion belt conveyor could be improved greatly.The research on the dust control scheme and equipment design for air cushion belt conveyor was accomplished. According to the analysis of pollution situation in pilot plant of air cushion belt conveyor, the dust precipitation mechanism of air cushion belt conveyor was found and then a dust governance scheme of local airtight control, eliminate positive and negative pressure guidance was put forward in this paper. The design and calculation of dust collector, discharge chute and compound buffer bed for the scheme was completed, therefore the environmental friendly transportation of air cushion belt conveyor can be accomplished.A kind of aided design software for air cushion belt conveyor was developed in this paper. A normal design selection method of air cushion belt conveyor was found by using the traditional design criteria and methods of belt conveyor. Based on Visual Basic programming language, AutoCAD and Word platform, a friendly interface and fully functional aided design software was developed. Thus the selection and verification of key parameters and components, tension calculation as well as automatic output of design instruction and engineering drawing in the design process of air cushion belt conveyor could be realized, so that the amount of calculation and the workload of designers, especially the design period were greatly reduced by using this assistant software. The development of the software lays a solid foundation for the industrial application and promotion of air cushion belt conveyor.
