Connector is a very important part of the cable curtain wall. During curtain wall constructing and normal using, connector is overturned because of glass gravity, which not only brings inconvenience to the construction, but also reduces the impermeability and durability of the curtain wall. Compared with the existing connector, the overturning problem can be improved greatly by using the new anti-overturning glass connector, who has more advantages in using and constructing.In order to develop new anti-overturning glass connector in cable curtain wall, numerical simulation method has been taken by means of ANSYS software. The main contents are as follows:(1) Based on the analysis of the force transfer characteristics in the cable curtain wall system, the connector’s main function and the force situation are clarified.(2) A parameter analysis for the overturning problem of glass connector has been taken. Some influence factors for overturning are analyzed, which include as follows: distance between the vertical cable and horizontal cable, span, prestress, diameter, distance between vertical cable and glass, bond length of the connector to vertical cable and horizontal cable. The main factors to connector’s overturning are found and suggestions to the new connector are raised.(3) A preliminary plan of the new anti-overturning glass connector is raised with the concept of anti-overturning and structure-invisible.(4) The preliminary design is optimized based on the mechanical characteristics of the connector in order to make sure that the connector is in reasonable force situation and has sufficient strength.(5) The advantages of the new connector are proved, compared with the existing one, by simulating the condition of the curtain wall.Based on the thesis, a conclusion can be obtained that the main factors to connector’s overturning are as follows:vertical cable diameter, cable pre-stress, cable span, distance between glass and vertical cable, distance between horizontal cable and vertical cable, bond length of connector to the vertical cable. The new and optimized anti-overturning glass connector is raised. The distributing laws of overturning angle for the existing connector and new connector are got. Based on the comparison and analysis, the results lead to strong support to that the new connector is not only more invisible, but also has obvious advantages in overturning than the existing connector.
