Nowadays, with the rapid development of modern science and technology, traditional instruments, mostly as physical instrument, not only the accuracy of the measurement is not high enough, but the product is not conducive to the technology updates, also because of complex processing and expensive cost, is gradually being eliminated. With the mature of the computer skills, virtual instruments are more and more common. In the use of high-speed computer to process data, virtual spectrum analyzer is the main instrument for signal detection and analysis and increasingly widespread since the feature upgrades are more flexible.This dissertation has improved the virtual spectrum analyzer and mainly designed for the noise, machinery, audio video and so on, based on the reference of the principles and functions of the traditional spectrum analyzer. Because the difference between the spectra of these occasions is relatively easy to distinguish and the processing accuracy of the spectrum analyzer’s is not very highly demanded, the spectrum analyzer can also be used as a teaching instrument in university,according to actual requirement to adjust flexibly in order to accelerate the progress of the experiment. This article designed virtual spectrum analyzer by using a virtual instrument technology,namely as a new equipment for the simulation analysis of the traditional equipment’s processing mechanisms in the personal computer. Subjective interface of the instruments is displayed through a computer, it is called interactive interface, it is displayed more clearly and diversely than the traditional spectrum analyzer. Control device is simulated using a similar switch originals, analysis,logic function module are belonged to the control panel, the user just operates the front panel to achieve functions and values of the spectrum analyzer. Virtual analyzer processes and acquisition equipment is very flexible, it can be changed according to the actual requirement and customization,so it can be applied to a wide applications, such as image acquisition and processing, intelligent vehicle control and PLC communication between the electrical control and so on.After the research of the Lab-VIEW programming techniques, this project used the G language to design and application of the spectrum analyzer, also combined with spectral measurements,virtual instruments and programming or other technology, it analyzes the collected and stored signals, and outputs the result to the computer monitor or stored on disk. The instrument has the function of time-domain analysis, frequency domain analysis, signal processing and display etc, it also has a good user interface and can delete and add functions according to the users’ requirement. The article introduced not only the design process using the different controls and functions, but the design and use of functional modules and sub-VI. Then micro-controller hardware tests is done for serial port communication connection in the instrument control, in addition, the probe is used in the testing phase to highlight the implementation process and thedebug is also conducted. Finally, in order to transplant, this virtual spectrum analyzer is generated as running and installation program in the expansion aspect, so that one can install and operate the installation program on the user’s computer. In this article briefly describes the LabVIEW programming process and design ideas, as well as the knowledge of LabVIEW project management,and provides the hardware and software picture which is partly used in the design procedure.Through the completion of the project, one can clearly recognize the virtual spectrum analyzer design and production process, and have the capable of software testing and migration and so on independently.
