The Tourism Adaptability Transformation And Space Reconstruction Of Contemporary Vernacular House In Dali

Dali located in the central west of Yunnan Province is one of the earliest cultural birthplaces in Yunnan. Due to a common role in the superior natural environment, brilliant national culture, social background and economic foundation, the settlement culture and the housing form of the Bai Nationality in Dali have emerged and sustained for millennia. Especially, with the development of rural tourism and heritage tourism in recent years, some settlements and traditional dwellings in Dali have produced the phenomena of the transformation and reconstruction to respond to opportunities and problems brought by the tourism development in the physical space and non-physical space.Firstly, based on the deep development of local tourism in the Dali Ancient City in the Dali Erhai area, the Dali Xizhou and the Dali Shuanglang, this paper not only combings the economic, social and cultural context of the settlement, but also summarizes the background of transformation and reconstruction of dwellings in Dali via the field survey on the settlement of the Erhai ring area. Besides, it mainly refers to the space production theory of Henry Lefebvre and Michel Foucault’s theory of power space to classify the settlement space, and to discuss causes of the power core evolution and its evaluation system. Furthermore, this study establishes the evaluation system of tourism power core through using the method of mathematical statistics and empirical formulae.Secondly, according to the target function of transformation, this essay divides the transformation of Dali dwelling tourism adaptability into three types:residential transformed catering, residential transformed inn and residential transformed retail. More importantly, it describes some characteristics and phenomenon of all kinds of transition dwellings, such as transformation methods, procedures, standards, timber, construction and decoration. Moreover, it discusses the method and condition of transformation that Dali dwellings replies to the tourism development, and then analyses both the external manifestation and internal logic of transformation and reconstruction of Dali dwellings.
