There are various common energy dissipating devices, such as friction energy dissipator, steel elastoplastic energy dissipator, etc. Parts of the energy dissipating devices dissipate the earthquake energy through its own plastic deformation, so the structures will inevitably produce larger residual deformation after the strong earthquakes. It not only brings the difficulty of the repair work for structures after the earthquake, but also increases the cost of repair. One solution is to set the self-centering energy dissipative braces to reduce the residual deformation of the structure after the earthquake. In this paper, the self-centering energy dissipative braces are installed in the steel frame to research the seismic performance and the main work is as follows:(1) Elaborate the working process and mechanics principle of the self-centering energy dissipative brace, then establish the analysis model of self-centering energy dissipative brace with finite element analysis software ANSYS. Flag hysteretic curve was obtained after loading.(2) Establish analysis model of steel frame with self-centering energy dissipative brace with finite element analysis software ANSYS, and calculate top floor displacement, interlayer displacement angle and residual deformation etc.at the model in considering frequently occurred and seldomly occurred earthquake with the method of dynamic time history analysis. In order to compare the seismic performance, establishing the analysis models of steel frame with buckling restrained braces and pure steel frame under same conditions. Results show that at the aspects of top floor displacement, interlayer displacement angle and residual deformation, steel frame with self-centering energy dissipative braces were significantly less than the other two kinds of structures; In seldomly occurred earthquake, self-centering energy dissipative brace is inferior to prevent buckling at the aspects of energy consumption and structure acceleration control.(3) Under the premise of the same parameter, research the influence on the seismic performance of the steel frame with self-centering energy dissipative brace decorating in different forms under seldomly occurred earthquake. Results show that setting the braces at the second and fourth pin of the structure in the form of X1 is best for anti-seismic.
