Recently, reinforced concrete structure confined by Fiber Reinforced Plastics (FRP) develops quickly in our country. It has been becoming the focus of the reinforcement technology of concrete at home and abroad with good resistance to corrosion and fatigue,high strength properties with light weight, not to increase the component size, convenient construction and many other advantages.With the deepening development of concrete confined by FRP,a large number of experimental studies have shown that reinforced concrete column confined by FRP can greatly improve its mechanical properties.But the former experimental studies are mostly limited to the carbon fiber cloth (CFRP), and the comparison of single factor. In order to make a comparison between basalt fiber cloth (BFRP) and carbon fiber cloth in strengthening the reinforced concrete columns, this paper make the fiber cloth type as a factor. In addition, the paper also consider the two other factors, such as the fiber cloth wrapped layers and column stirrup spacing, each factor has three levels. According to the orthogonal experimental design method, choosing orthogonal table of L9(33), the test produces nine columns under axial compression, obtaining failure characteristics,the load-strain curves,the limit bearing capacity of the specimens The research shows that fiber cloth species play a major role in the ultimate bearing capacity of strengthened columns, as the main factors the bearing capacity of R.C. Columns strengthened with BFRP averagely improves twenty percent, is equivalent to eighty percent of CFRP. The ultimate bearing capacity of the columns strengthened with FRP increased with the increase of FRP layers, but is not linear relationship. Before reaching seventy percent of the ultimate bearing capacity of the columns, the constraint effect of fiber cloth on column is not significant. After this, the fiber cloth restriction increases, delaying the column failure greatly.
