Marine power system is an important part of the whole ship, especially for the automated ships of nowadays. the working performance of diesel generator has a significant impact on the power system, in order to ensure the electrical equipment working properly, power system need to keep the power frequency constant. In the marine power system, electricity generation frequency is determined by diesel engine power which is the working as a prime mover, therefore, the control of diesel engine speed is of great significance.In order to ensure the stability of the power frequency, it is necessary to ensure the engine speed stability when the power load changes. Engine speed governor play a the role to ensure the engine speed stability. This thesis comes up with a hybrid control method according to the diesel generator working principle, it proposed a compensation value based on load changes, and add it on the traditional PID controller output results. Adjusting the fuel index before the generator set speed changing, reduce the speed fluctuation of the unit. The prior adjusting amount obtained by the simplified diesel engine model, and with the prior adjusting, multiple performance diesel engine governor are optimized. To validate the new method, model a turbocharged diesel engine model by the mean value engine model method according to the diesel engine working principle, and finish the governor’s performance of the diesel generator system simulation verification on the Matlab simulation platform, this validation compares governors’performance that using PID controller and hybrid method controller.The new composite control method governor dynamic index of instantaneous rate and settling time are superior to PID control method governor. To meet the needs of ship generator parallel working station, diesel engine is required to have a droop characteristic. According to the principle of hydraulic governor’s droop characteristic designed electronic governor droop characteristic generate links, by generating disturbance compensation the amount of diesel generator output power calculating new stable speed, so that this kind of droop characteristic produced closer to the set value.Generator with disturbance compensation controller has a good governing performance when the electricity load mutation, using the power feedback to calculate the static deviation are more accurate than using the accelerator feedback.
