With the rapid developing of Chinese economy, the basic construction ofpeople’s livelihood is booming. The culvert construction as a kind of the mostcommon, widely used in highway, railway, water conservancy, civil, municipalengineering field. In this paper, the orthogonal experiments of the soil pressure coefficientwith different nature of the soil on the top of box culvert and semi arch culvert isresearched through the finite element analysis software ANSYS. And then findout the most sensitive soil properties, and briefly analysis the main stressdeflection trajectory with the factor. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)In the conditions of box culvert and sand soil, the effect of internalfriction angle to the soil pressure coefficient is the largest. With the increasing ofinternal friction angle, the soil pressure coefficient increases fast at first, thensteady form.(2)In the conditions of box culvert and clay soil, the effect of Poisson’sratio to the soil pressure coefficient is the largest. With the increasing of Poisson’s ratio, the soil pressure coefficient decreases, and in the whole region, decline rate is basically the same.(3)In the conditions of semi arch culvert and sand soil, the effect ofinternal friction angle to the soil pressure coefficient is the largest. With theincreasing of internal friction angle, the soil pressure coefficient increases, andthe growth rate becomes slower and slower.(4)In the conditions of semi arch culvert and clay soil, the effect ofPoisson’s ratio to the soil pressure coefficient is the largest. With the increasingof Poisson’s ratio, the soil coefficient decrease, and the Poisson’sratio>0.37,decline rate is relatively large.(5)In the working conditions of sand soil, the internal friction angle isthe most sensitive factor. When the type of culvert is box, deflection of theminor principal stress increases with the internal friction angle increasing. Whenthe type of culvert is semi arch, deflection of the minor principal stress did notchange with the internal friction angle, remains straight, slight fluctuations.(6)In the working conditions of clay soil, the Poisson’s ratio is the mostsensitive factor. When the type of culvert is box, deflection of the minorprincipal stress increases with the internal friction angle increasing. When thetype of culvert is semi arch, the minor principal stress deflection degree changeswith the angle of internal friction and the distance of the culvert height. Theheight is small, minor principal stress deflection did not change with thevariation of Poisson’s ratio, but remains a horizontal line, a slight fluctuation; The height is relatively high, the deflection of minor principal stress increaseswith the increase of Poisson’s ratio. In each case, the degree of the minorprincipal stress deflection decreases with the increase of distance from the top ofculvert height.
