Lead-acid batteries application development has a long history of150years, but some of its unique characteristics and advantages fora long time can not be replaced in the whole battery industry. Inrecent years, with the development and application of electricvehicles, the research of lead acid battery is becoming a hottopic, since it may bring great significance to the industrydevelopment. Although lead-acid battery technology is relativelymature, but a common problem is low utilization ratio of activesubstances, especially the negative active material utilization is farfrom ideal. The negative electrode decides the entire batterycapacity. This study is to improve performance of negativecharge-discharge by changing the negative additive content、speciesand adding methods. Electrochemical of charge-discharge behaviorwas investigated by a cyclic voltammetry method, and effects ofdifferent formulations and adding methods on the electrode reactionprocess were observed. The purpose of this study is to providetheoretical basis for selecting novel composite additives bystudying effects of different formulations and adding methods oncharge-discharge behavior. The research content mainly has two aspects:1. Using orthogonal experiment to select the best formula.2. According to the effects of different adding methods on thecharge-discharge performance to choose the best way to method. The experimental results showed:1.To add an appropriate amount of activated carbon in plumbumpaste can significantly improve the battery charge and dischargeperformance.2.Add the additional agents by simple dry mixing, has no effecton charging-discharging performance of the electrode.3.Simple wet mixing add can make charge-dischargeperformance slightly lower.4.With alkali neutralization premixed can reducecharge-discharge performance, but if use acid to neutralize, cansignificantly improve the charge-discharge performance of theelectrode.5.Lignosulfonates in liquid form to add in lead powder canimprove the charge-discharge performance.6.For sodium humate, whether in the form of a liquid to join or inthe form of solid particles to join will reduce battery charge-discharge performance.
