Study On The Application Of Minimalismin In The Modern River Landscage Design

In touch with water is human’s nature. With the rapid development of present society,living close to water is a kind of life style and psychological experience that modern people prefer to have. In this case, river landscape attracts widespread attention of people. However,there are many problems in modern river views such as imbalanced development of ecological environment and landscape mode singularity, etc. Minimalism was developed from 1960 s, it plays an important role in conciseness design form. Since the lacking of management control, Bai river, as the ’mother river’ of Nanyang now facing a lot of reality problems. For example, the deficiency of regional culture, the dullness in sight and the imperfect of infrastructure which could have a strong impact on urban lanscape. This paper is on the basis of these problems of Bai river and combines with the study of minimalism to make an overall planning to the enhancement of riverways and try to create a simple and high quality waterfront lanscape space then to improve the city image of Nanyang.The development trends of river landscape design in both domestic and overseas were analysed in this study. Through the field research, researcher illustrated the current situation of Bai river and the regional context of Nanyang city. Based on the theory of minimalism,researcher followed the design priciples of ecology, concise and harmonious to planning and design the river ways of Bai river. The design philosophy is to inherit regional context,remodeling waterfront lanscape, reappear the charming of Bai river and improve the city image of Nanyang. To achieve these goals, the design carriers such as Han culture of Nanyang and traditional opera culture were introduced. At the same time, the lanscape factors such as the river way terrains of Bai river, featured landscape, vegetation regionalization and square roads should be programming and distribution systematically.Researcher divided the river landscape into the scenic riverside landscape zone, waterfront tourist area, historical cultural area, entertainment area and the activity zone of theatergoers,formed the layout structure of "one region, four areas, morepoints." The geometrical modelling elements were used as the the basic design language which means the geometric matrix such as triangles and rectangles were cross and superpositon to make the overallcomposition more simple and orderly. In addition, the design of road, the arrangement of plants and the selection of materials all follow the priciples of ecological optimization,local conditions and concise forms to make a simplify waterfront landscape.Based on the theory of the minimalism,the landscape design if Bai river of Nan yang demonstrated the artistic inherit of Nanyang’s culture.The requirment of people to modern environment recognition was expressed through the surrounding improvement of Bai river.This essay discussed the ways of sustainable development of riverway views through the overall space,cultural expression,local node design and the design of phytoecommunity,etc.It has the practical meaning for the design of modern riverways.
