Root piles can maximally maintain the balance between foundation and construction, which is their prominent advantages different from other piles. Therefore, it is widely used in the foundation reinforcement and rectification of the old building, the slope stability reinforcement and anti floating etc engineering. The application of root piles do not destroy the supporting role of the soil to the structure, at the same time it guarantee the repair and reinforcement effect. Railway generally bear more heavy transportation tasks, so the foundation reinforcement in early stage of railway bridge is different from general new buildings.Whatever reinforcement, stability of the original foundation can not be disturbed. So the replacement of conventional reinforcement method,dynamic compaction method are not applicable to the processing for existing bridge foundation. However, root piles is especially suitable for existing heavy-duty railway bridge foundation reinforcement because of their construction techniques and characteristics different from other methods of reinforcement.On the basis of previous research,this paper carry on a more comprehensive summary of the classification,characteristics, applicable scope and calculation of root piles.Combining with the engineering example, this paper simulates root piles f oundation reinforcement of bridge by using ANSYS software,and through the comparison of before and after reinforcement finite element nonlinear analysis results,verify the root pile has good reinforcement effect.For the initial stress problems in numerical analysis of pile and soil, that is the problem of considering the influences of early settlement and analysis on pile soil contact.This paper use the method of setting the birth death element and load steps to solve.And through the application of the with single pile cap model example(divided into slip and no slip model),verify that this method is reliable, and provides reference for the similar engineering.
