Ensure reliable operation of the device is an important prerequisite for the power supply reliability, especially in modern power systems. Power transmission equipment failures often affect the entire grid operating state. Therefore, pay attention to the state health of the device all the time is important to detect and eliminate security equipment risks to ensure safety and reliability of the power system. The health state of the device can be directly reflected by its operating status, if device is in abnormal operation, the corresponding operating parameters are significantly different compared with the corresponding operating parameters in normal operation. The growing condition monitoring techniques provides the possibility to master electrical equipment operating status, thus providing the technical support for the maintenance and failure prediction, which can improve the reliability of the equipment. To solve these problems, this paper conducts the following study work based on the existing relative theoretical study and practical experience.First, the paper analyzed the law of equipment failure, on the basis of summing up the law of failure of military age during different periods, analysis the development process of the failure, get the failure probability models of power transmission equipment. Then according to the Risk Assessment Guidelines for power transmission equipment, which is promulgated by State grid in 2008, to the transformer, for example, discuss the development of the failure.Secondly, On the basis of transformers, power cables, monitor the status of the state on the analysis of insulators, select the monitored parameters that can reflect the status of the device. When selecting the monitoring parameters, it requires the existing level of technology can achieve and reflect the equipment operating conditions effectively, the state of the selected parameters need to be as comprehensive as possible to ensure that these monitoring parameters reflect the status of the device valid and accurately. Finally, this paper considers power transmission equipment as the object of study, proposed fault model based on transformer condition monitoring as priority. The model takes a variety of monitoring parameters into account, combined with historical data, curve fitting function each condition monitoring parameters and fault occurrence rate. And select the threshold of each condition monitoring parameter of the device, then conduct local linearization in the vicinity of the threshold. Obtain the change rate of failure probability with the monitor parameters in the vicinity of the threshold. When the equipment condition monitoring parameter reaches the threshold value, the corresponding condition monitoring parameters are weighted to form a comprehensive evaluation. Weights obtained from the improved analytic hierarchy process. The device with the highest index score is considered most likely to fail, arrange maintenance for this equipment to improve the reliability of the system. Then demonstrate the feasibility of the method with an example.
