The energy problem has became increasingly prominent, and the energy conservation as one of the important basic national policy in china. As the main force of the energy consumption, the power generation industry should take more responsibilities and obligations to support energy conservation. The thermal power department, which burn coal to product head and convert into electricity, has great potential for the energy conservation by optimizing boiler efficiency. And the air preheater as an indispensable component in the boiler system of power plant has much room for improvement.In this paper, the regenerative board, which is the core components in the power plant air preheater, has been analyzed by experimental study. First, applying theoretical knowledge to analyze the experiment. From the cause of the media flow, the flow pattern of the medium, the fluid medium of physical properties, the type geometry factor of thermal storage plate to explain the principle of the thermal storage heat exchanger plates respectively. And using the heat transfer relevant knowledge derived the overall heat transfer coefficient and computational model of regenerative heat transfer plate, which can characterize the heat transfer performance of regenerative plate.Second, the paper accords to the theory of transfer experiment and through a lot of selection calculation to build a new type of heat transfer test system. The heat transfer test system uses the thermostat waters to heat the air between the regenerative heating plates. Five different types of regenerative plate had been carried out to be tested, and got the results, which can characterize the five regenerative plates’ heat transfer performance, about convective heat transfer coefficient, j-Re and Nu-Re equations. To compare the performance of heat exchanger about the five regenerative plates and got the result: A>C>B>D>E. Then, the paper analyzed the test results.Finally, an error analysis for this regenerative board heat transfer experiment was making, and the total error of regenerative plate heat transfer coefficient is 4.833%, which within the specified range. Meanwhile, the paper describes the mass balance test of the experiment system. As A type regenerative board an example to analysis detailedly the mass balance about the experiment system by using actual data. Ensure the reliability and authenticity of experimental results.
