The plug valve is a typical pipeline valve, and its role is to cut-off.With the continuous development of China’s manufacturing industry, many sectors have put forward higher requirements for plug valve.It is most widely used in natural gas pipeline or oil pipeline.However, since the natural gas and petroleum are flammable, the performance requirements for plug valve are more stringent. Especially, strength’s failing to meet requirement, results in gas leakage and oil leakages from high-pressure and large-diameter plug valve, and leads to combustion, explosion, poisoning and other malignant accidents in some cases. Therefore,the research on the internal flow field of high-pressure and large-diameter plug valve is particularly important.According to the actual situation, the fluid medium in the plug valve may be two kinds of material. One is the compressible gas, and another is the incompressible liquid.Though both lead to complex motion in plug valves, there are huge difference of flow behaviors inside the plug valve. Therefore, we can find the different effects of ideal gas and liquid water on the plug value, and investigate the flow phenomena inside the plug valve through the numerical simulation of flow field with two kinds of different fluid medium. Based on the CFD theory, the numerical simulation of the flow field in the plug valve focuses on the research of static pressure distribution, the flow velocity and the pressure drop under the different rotation angle. The research results can effectively improve the reliability, security, and the service life and reduce the cost of the product test.In this paper, the main contents of this thesis are as follows:(1)Three-dimensional models of plug valve’s three main flow components arecreated based on Solid Works.ANSYS DM is used to build the two-dimensional simplified model of flow field. The generation of mesh modelof flow field is through ICEM CFD.(2)Using the FLUENT module of ANSYS Workbench platform,and standard turbulence equations,we can study two dimensional numerical simulation of the fluid in plug valveat different rotation angle, and obtain the hydrostatic pressure distribution, velocity vector diagram, the related physical quantity curve. We can also study the influence of plug valve rotary angle, and then provide a theoretical basis for the study on the structural characteristics of plug valve.
