It is important, difficult and risky to assemble the tower in electric transmission line engineering. The main construction equipments are still various types of poles. With the improvement of the voltage level, the large towers are widely used in the Ultra High Voltage (UHV) power transmission project. The characteristics of towers are high, big and heavy, therefore the construction process has to require corresponding construction technology according to the different environmental conditions and demanded functions. Only in this way we can ensure the quality and the security of the project. So, it is particularly important and urgent to assess the security of tower construction using poles.Firstly, the finite element model of the landing holding pole with double rotating arms is verified effective, through the comparison of engineering test results and finite element analysis results, which shows the overall trends of measured stress and finite element calculation results are consistent. Secondly, the construction scheme shows the hoisting weight, free segment height, inner guy angle, etc. can affect the mechanics behavior of the pole. The finite element analysis results indicate that the hoisting weight cannot exceed the rated value. It had better choose balance hoisting construction scheme. The outside surface deflection angle has greater influence on the sTab.ility than in-plane deviation angle. Generally the in-plane deviation angle should be less than 5° and the outside surface deflection angle should be less than 3°. The free segment height should be as small as possible, usually controlled in 20 meters. The suiTab.le waist rope distance should be less than 20 meters. The inner guy wire’s angle should be less than 45°.Based on the research of the construction scheme, firstly the hazard level is classified by preliminary hazard analysis method, then common risks, accident consequences, hazard levels and control measures in tower construction are put forward. Through combining the finite element mechanics performance analysis results with the results of preliminary hazard analysis, this article puts forward the security checklists including qualitative and quantitative safety assessment indexes. Research results can provide the practical method and basis for the safety assessment of the landing holding pole with double rotating arms.
