As a special crane made for assembling electric transmission towers, the holding pole is widely used in the electric transmission and transformation industry. The suspended holding pole with double rotating arms has its unique features, so it is used much more widely in the large crossing UHV power transmission project. At the seventh section of North Zhejiang-Fuzhou UHV power transmission project, Anhui Electric Power Transmission & Transformation Company used the suspended holding pole with double rotating arms to assemble transmission towers, considering the terrain. Before the use of the pole, in order to ensure the safety during the construction, it is necessary to analyze the mechanics performance of the pole using software ANSYS.The main research contents of this paper contain three parts. The first part puts forward the qualitative indexes and quantitative indexes which influence the mechanics property of the pole. Then the influence rule on mechanics properties of the pole is obtained for each quantitative index. The second part mainly uses ANSYS to do the modal analysis for the suspended holding pole with double rotating arms. The basic frequency of the pole and the vibration mode in every frequency are determined. Then the maximum displacement for each vibration mode of the pole is calculated. The third part firstly obtains the wind load curve by using Matlab, then applies the wind load on the pole. By the transient dynamic analysis of the pole, the displacement-time curve、 the velocity-time curve and the acceleration-time curve are computed.The results of static analysis show that the set way of waist rings has great influence on mechanics properties of the holding pole. Only one group of waist ropes is needed. The preload of waist rings should not be more than It. It is appropriate to set the slenderness of the pole as about 80. The length and set way of supporting ropes play less effect on the safety performance of the holding pole. In order to ensure the convenience of the set way, the set angle of supporting ropes should be less than 45 degrees. The set angle of inner guy wire should be less than 45 degrees. The results of the transient dynamic analysis show that the rotation of the pole’s main rod plays less effect on the mode of the pole. The maximal displacement of the holding pole often occurs in the end of rocker arms and on the top of the holding pole. The wind vibration effect on the top of the holding pole is obvious.
