With the rapid development of China’s economy, the industrial and civilian electricity consumption are both increasing rapidly. Electricity demand growth and increased quality requirements for electricity makes electricity firm size also grow biger and biger. Sharp increase in power plants, substations and other electrical equipment has caused tremendous pressure to the repair work of electrical equipment. Thus while improving the overall efficiency of power production, the level of automation and the reliability of the power, at the same time, improving the grid maintenance work tech, efficiency and automation level is the urgent problem that power companies need to solve for their further development.Perspective detection technology based on X-ray digital imaging is a new tech for electric power equipment maintenance field, which is first used by Yunnan Power Grid Company in recent years. X-ray digital imaging technology can perspective detect GIS, tank circuit breakers, composite insulators and other electrical equipment, so as to achieve the purpose of visual diagnosis. Application of this technology can improve the efficiency of electrical equipment maintenance. With X-ray digital imaging technology matures in the use of electrical equipment maintenance areas, some researchers have questioned whether the technique can be used for power transformers and other oil-filled equipment perspective, which need to conduct feasibility study for the safety while using this technology to maintenance oil-filled power equipment.This paper first put forward the study of using a portable high-frequency X-ray machine to radiate insulating oil. In order to understanding the situation of X-ray irradiation effects on the transformer insulating oil clearly, this paper first briefly introduced the physical, chemical, electrical properties of insulating oil and partial discharge phenomena, then analyzed the main principle of the X-ray function on insulating oil, thus to determine the key projects of detection and analysis on the already radiated insulating oil, and then presents a scientific and rational test method. After that the article individually introduced the situation of various detected performance that X-ray impact on insulating oil based on field test and analysis of data, which focuses on analysising and showing the situation of X-ray impact on the charging tendency of the insulating oil, and theoretical analysis on why X-rays affect the charged tendencies of the insulating oil. Finally, this paper summarized the various results of the experiment, and draw a conclusion that the weak effect on the insulating oil which caused by the X-ray detection will not influence the transformer according to industry experiences and standards.
