Nowadays, environment pollution and energy shortage problems have become increasingly serious, the use of new energy sources has become urgent. To solve these problems, on the other hand, with the development of full-controlled power devices and the corresponding control technology, based on Voltage Source Converter and Pulse Width Modulation technology, the VSC-HVDC has been realized. In recent years, with its unique advantages, VSC-HVDC technology is attracting more and more experts and scholars attention. As the key devices of VSC-HVDC transmission system, converter valves should bear the overvoltage in different forms including switching, lightening and fast front overvoltage in the process of running. At the same time, the wide band frequency electromagnetic noise is generated by periodical turn-on and turn-off processes of converter valves, which can impact communication and control systems. Building wide band equivalent circuit model is the foundation to solve above problems. In view of all kinds of VSC-HVDC over voltage in distribution and electromagnetic interference problem.Supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China under grant No.51207054,based on the Physical characteristics and working principle of IGBT module, a physical-significant wide band equivalent circuit model is proposed, the IGBT dynamic model of the physical meaning has also established. For validation, the simulated computed result is compared with the measurements, the result illustrate that the modeling method is valid and the extraction of circuit parameters is precise.
