In the growing shortage of coal resources, increasing demand for electricity, safe and stable production of thermal power plants has important significance for the development of the national economy nowadays. In the 21 st century, the power industry has been further developed,while higher requirements to the thermal power plant fuel. Scientific management of thermal power plant fuel has become an inevitable trend. Coal inventory system as an important part of fuel system, using for dynamic monitoring and analyzing the coal yard, and completing the work for inventorying the coal yard, plays a vital role in controlling and reducing the production cost of the thermal power plant.According to the thermal power plant’s requirements of accuracy and timeliness for the coal inventory system information, and combining characteristics of traditional methods and advanced laser inventorying coal storage, this paper discusses a method of inventorying coal storage. The method uses three-dimensional laser scanner to get the initial stock throughout the coal yard; uses electronic rail scale, electronic truck scale and electronic belt scale equipment to measure the storage of coal fields to get the change stock of the coal yard; with the initial stock of the coal yard and the change stock of the coal yard to get the final stock of the coal yard every day. This article uses Visual Studio 2010 as the front interface development environment of a software and SQL Server 2008 as the back-end database system of a software to design a set of function relatively and B/S structure of the coal inventory system software for real time monitoring and analyzing the variety of data in the processing of the coal inventory by C# language, and can be a way for the local area network to view a variety of dynamic monitoring information of the coal fields. Coal inventory system contains user login interface, create user wizard interface, password recovery interface and the main interface, and the main interface includes user system, coal volume system, coal into the plant system and coal out the plant system, coal stock system, error analysis system and report printing system. These seven systems cooperate with each other to complete the work of coal inventory and realization of dynamic monitoring the population of the coal yard.
