The Analysis Of Spatial Form Composition In Peter Walker’s Landscape Desigs

Peter Walker, as one of the most greatest landscape designers in 20th century, contributes to modern landscape design of spatial form by his views and methods of design of spatial form. This article shows the research of Peter Walker’s space form combined with relevant conception of spatial form from other landscape designers and analyzes by space and landscape elements in all-around. As a result, it can summarize how to set space form with Peter Walker’s design view.This thesis titled as "Spatial form composition of Peter Walker" introduces literature, interview, spatial research of landscape designs, which are all on the basis of how Peter Walker set spatial from in the landscape. First, from the published literature, the background research of spatial form is more concerned to the basic summarization of spatial form composition and less refers to systematic illustration of spatial form. Second, it demonstrates spatial types, spatial elements, spatial forms and spatial compositions. Last but no least, and all-around analysis is applied with Peter Walker specific substances.There are following aspects about Peter Walker’s spatial form composition of landscapes:(1) based on the spatial form, the elements in Peter Walker’s Landscape designs are concluded by shape (spot, line, surface), artificial elements (plants,sculpture. liquid, material), natural elements(light and fog) and cultural elements;(2)) combination of form composition presents axipetal-, centrilpetal-, sphere-, an d trapezoidal-sequence; it also can be showed on the way of dynamic form, static form (circle, cube, cone) and grid.(3) Peter Walker deletes and overlaps identical and different grids. The designs of Peter Walker also are presents by misregistration, twist, and composition.(4) the spatial form of Peter Walker’s landscape design categories open field, enclo sed field, and two opposite form (concave and convex).The thesis analyzes how Peter Walker set spatial form composition in landscape th at is, from field visiting of the typic landscape, the crucial point of it. Meanwhile, the re search of Peter Walker’s spatial form composition, playing a crucial role in our learning of landscape design, takes the understanding of spatial form composition of landscape t o a new level and brings a fresh idea to China’s spatial design of landscape.
