Study On The Exterior Space Form Of The Modern Commercial Buildings Around The Environment Of History Architecture

Facing up to the problems that exist in the modern buildings around the history buildings, specifically modern commercial buildings around the history buildings, the thesis try to clarify the leading contradiction of them from a viewpoint of space. Basing on B.Zevi's the Theory of Architecture Space and C.Norberg.Schulz's "Existing Space" and the definition of the place, a standpoint that the space-the place for living, forms the harmony between the modern commercial architecture space and the ancient ones. The space is the factor that unifies the architectures, and correspondingly, some other elements, such as the ornament, drawing and social culture, are subsidiary and are unified in the space. After the investigation of the harmony between the new and old buildings, it is brought forward that the modern commercial architectures around some old ones should satisfy the people's needs on the aspects of the space practicability, space perceptibility and space existence. Then, these new architectures can harmonize with the ancient ones. The dissertation applies the theory to the analyses of the exterior space form of the modern commercial buildings around the history buildings. Finally analysis and evaluate some modern commercial buildings around the Bell Tower and the South Gate in Xi' an.
