In the era of rapid development of technology, microelectronics, automation technology is getting great advancement as well as the background of China’s economic development. With the prosperity of economic development, the power system of China is also developed prosperously and the development of power system is injected new vitality by unattended substation as well as variation of enterprise model.This paper begins with making a brief introduction to the characteristics and requirements of electric power system operation of the power system. Then leads to the status of some problems involving China’s low-voltage and low-voltage and formulates the practical significance to solve these problems. Meanwhile, this paper also makes a concise narrative about automatic control theory and its application in power system.In the second chapter, derivation and definition of some formulas is represented firstly and then some principles about calculation in power system. Detailed reasons for the power lines, reactive power, low-voltage equipment is also described as well as the status of China’s rural low voltage problem via a instance.In our paper, two types of means about power system voltage regulator, the use of the main transformer tap voltage and the use of reactive power compensation device regulator, and the regulator devices generally used in each mean are also described in detail.In the fourth chapter, application of SVC device in 220 kV substation of Dong Anshan is introduced firstly. This introduction firstly analyzes the application of SVC installation in Dong Anshan from the selection of installation location to the determination of installed capacity and control method. And then the practical effect of the SVC installation is also analyzed in stability and economic aspects.After the introduction of SVC, the introduction of AVC(Automatic Voltage Control System) in Anshan grid is then formulated from function, control theory, design and implementation aspects. Anshan Power Supply Company has accomplished centralized automatic voltage and reactive power optimization control via centralized monitoring, management and control of all the reactive power compensation equipment in Anshan grid substation. These monitoring, management and control is achieved due to the import of automatic voltage control system(AVC) by power dispatching control center of Anshan Power Supply Company.
