With development of the modern science and technology, spectrum analyzer plays an essential rule in frequency domain measurement. The spectrum analyzer is widely applied in large amount of fields such as communication test, aerospace and radar navigation. To satisfy the need of top fields’ test, the indicators, such as accuracy, working speed, using flexibility and measuring fields, are constantly improving. The performance of RF front local oscillator directly affects the super heterodyne spectrum analyzer. Therefore, it’s significant to do research on RF front local oscillator for better performance of spectrum analyzer.In this thesis, the research on control module of YTO is based on the project of 8GHz spectrum analyzer. The main work includes the design of scanning nonlinear compensation module, count clock module and list type scanning module of YTO. First is the design of scanning nonlinear compensation module of YTO. The regular frequency error caused by nonlinear error of YTO has been obtained by real test. The compensation algorithm has been acquired from the mathematical model based on sweep time, range and points. And the comparison of error compensation is given and analyzed. Second is the design of scanning count clock module. More flexible, high accuracy and stability is needed in counting signal to solve bad timing in YTO. From the actual test results, it is obvious that the clock signal perform excellent in automatic real time adjustment. Third is design of list scanning control model. Signal monitoring is an adding functionality on 8GHz spectrum analyzer to measure and analyze the detectable signals. The sub module of the project is analyzed and the list type scanning hardware circuit is offered. Finally, simulation test results and actual test results is calculated.The overall objective design of scanning local oscillator is achieved. Through compensation to the nonlinear frequency error by YTO scanning, the accuracy of measurement range is lower than ±0.2%, the precision of YTO scanning time is improved from 0.1ms to an adjustable area from 0.002 to 1ms, and list type scanning is also accomplished.
