The transmission system is a large complex system of ship equipment. High reliability of its subsystem or critical part makes an important contribution to the reliability of whole transmission system. Electronic control module is the control center of transmission system and also is one of the key components. Therefore, the reliability of electronic control module to meet the requirement is a prerequisite of the whole system to achieve the required reliability. With the purpose of assessing whether the electronic control module could be achieved the service requirements, assessment of its reliability and service life evaluation and validation is needed. In this article, we assess the service life and reliability of the electronic control module according to field zero-failure data and laboratory test data. The main research work of this thesis:(1) Failure rate of electronic control module is assessed according to the field censoring zero-failure data. Since reliability analysis of zero-failure data is a difficult issue in this field, there are some limitations for these methods. In this paper, a solution is proposed to select the parameters of the Bayes’ method when it is applied to evaluate the MTBF of exponential distribution of life. In the calculation process, better relevant parameters can guarantee the results more accurate and reliable.(2) After estimating the failure rate of electronic control module based on the field data, the number of success boot times as success-type test was used to estimate the lower confidence limit of reliability combined with exponential data and the binomial Data.(3) In order to assess the electronic control module that meets the service requirements in the marine environment, we designed environmental qualification tests refer to the military standard and other relevant standards. They are the mold test and the salt spray test. The purpose of these two tests is to identify the electronic control module itself anti-fungal and salt spray corrosion.(4) The salt spray test has some properties of accelerated life testing. In this paper, we reference the accelerated life test data processing method, using some of the data obtained in the salt spray test to estimate the service life of the electronic control module. To solve this problem, we proposed a method of calculating the environmental factors to transform laboratory environment to the natural environment equivalent. Then measurement the performance data of Electronic control module before and after the test, with the performance degradation trajectory of the service life of electronic control module, a more accurate estimate of its life was given. Finally, combining the results of its on-site service life, we assessed the reliability of Electronic control module to meet service requirements.
