Space truss structure with light weight, low cost and simple construction and so on is widely used in engineering, application domain involves the engineering machinery, bridge design, construction, supporting, building structure and hydraulic aqueduct, gate support, transmission network, many aspects, can make the structure satisfy certain constraints limit the save materials, reduce cost. The mathematical description of the truss structure is further study of truss design, especially the foundation of structure optimization design.Truss structural optimization development has experienced the size, shape, topology, and combinatorial optimization, etc., at present, most everyone’s research is on the premise of meet the engineering requirements to reduce the project cost for the purpose. But in many optimization study, the difficulty of topology optimization is opposite bigger. Existing space truss structure topology optimization is a method of topological optimization of discrete body namely with prior knowledge to determine the pitch of each bar first, then using the topology optimization method to determine whether each bar. Continuum topology optimization to the known boundary and loading conditions to determine the best shape design, the structure design of the initial stage is of great theoretical significance. Homogenization method is a kind of mature continuum topology optimization method, the topological optimization module of ANSYS Workbench software is developed based on this method. Using ANSYS software, this article embarks from the continuum considering many working conditions to complete the topology optimization design of space truss structure, the internal space truss structure is obtained the optimal topology of each bar provide conceptual design, and analyzed by ANSYS Workbench for topology optimization design should pay attention to some problems.Tower crane is a important kind of engineering machinery, is indispensable in the engineering construction project construction tools. Subject to tower crane on the main space truss structure as the research object. The tower chassis structure, the tower structure is an important part of crane standard section, is typical. Previous studies mainly bias in tower crane machine, crane boom and balance arm of the study, the study of the fixed tower is less, especially for large tower crane, often appear due to fears of structural static strength is not enough and increase dosage of material, cause the phenomenon of low material utilization ratio.Truss structure in this paper can give the description method of truss structure describing matrix is given, and stem cell location parameter definition expression. Then apply the domain transformation matrix method combines truss structure description method and finite element theory. Tower crane main space truss structure by finite element software analyzed. Results show that in view of the structural stress are allowable stress at the same time, there is also space can be optimized. The final analysis, to improve the structure of test and verify the reliability of the optimization results, make its can be used with the engineering practice.
